Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, who was president of Turkmenistan at the time, announced the creation of the park on February 17, 2021.

The park occupies an area of about 28.6 thousand square meters. $6,43 million was allocated from the budget of Turkmenistan for its construction.

The park is located in the historical center of Ashgabat, near the government building and the Drama Theater. In addition to flowerbeds and alleys, there are miniature replicas of Tashkent sightseeing places: Independence Square, Alayskiy Bazar, the TV tower and other objects.

The new park was opened by Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Turkmen President Serdar Berdymukhamedov on October 21.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also took part in the ceremony of launching the construction of the Khorezm-Dashoguz border trade zone.

In addition, on the same day, Shavkat Mirziyoyev was awarded the title of honorary professor of the State University of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli.
