In recent years, the position of the Uzbek language in our country and at the international level is strengthening. There is an increased interest in learning the Uzbek language by foreign citizens.

 Today there are Uzbek language courses in more than 60 universities and centers of the world. They are provided with literature on the study of the Uzbek language created by professors and teachers of Uzbekistan.

Decree No. 6084 of the Head of State of 20 October 2021 took the work on this issue to a new level. According to the decision, an annual International Olympiad on the Uzbek language and literature was held among students.

Today, the Tashkent State University of the Uzbek Language and Literature for the first time hosts the International Academic Olympiad online among undergraduate students who study at foreign universities and higher educational institutions of our country and are citizens of a foreign country.

The event was opened by Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education Rahimjon Khakimov. He spoke about the role of the Uzbek language in the social life of our people, as well as the possibility of increasing the interest of foreign youth in the Uzbek language by increasing its international prestige, expanding cooperation in science and education.

This year 45 foreign students from around 10 countries have applied to take part in the International Olympiad. Students studying Uzbek at higher education institutions in South Korea, Russia, Turkey, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Japan participate in the Olympiad.
