The Ministry of Energy issued recommendations on saving electricity, heat and gas in the home. The recommendations were announced by the ministry's press service.

Below we list these recommendations.

To save electricity:

Did you know that televisions, tape recorders and other audio equipment consume an average of 10 watts per hour and 7.3 kilowatts per month in standby mode? They must be completely unplugged.

As a rule, rooms with light walls or light wallpaper require less light than dark rooms. This should be taken into account in your next renovation. In addition, it is better to use white curtains.

Do not install your refrigerator near a gas stove or heating radiator. This increases the refrigerator's power consumption by 20-30%.

Buy appliances and electronics of class A, A+, A++, or A+++ with low energy consumption and high energy efficiency.

The main share of all energy consumed in the home - 79 percent - is spent on space heating, 15 percent of energy is used for thermal processes (water heating, cooking, etc.), 5 percent - for household electrical appliances and 1 percent - for lighting, radio and television equipment.

When using a washing machine, try to wash at a lower temperature. At a wash temperature of +90 C energy costs are 30-40 percent higher than at a wash temperature of +60 C. Sometimes a temperature of +30/40 degrees is enough to wash laundry.

When using your refrigerator, remember that its power consumption triples for every minute that the door is open.

If you use household appliances correctly, use energy-saving lamps, do not leave appliances in standby mode - it will reduce energy costs and save the family budget.

Recommendations for saving natural gas:

Did you know that deformed bottoms of cookware lead to up to 50 percent gas overconsumption.

It takes 4-6 times more gas to cook in dirty cookware. Cookware must be clean and not burnt.

Did you know that the flame of a gas stove should not extend beyond the bottom of a pot, pan or kettle? If so, you are heating the air in your home using 50 percent or more natural gas.

It is recommended to install aluminum foil pads under the burner of the gas stove. In this way the burner does not get too hot and dirty, and the gas is more economical by 30 percent or more.

- Did you know that 1 cubic meter of gas used for cooking is equivalent to 2-3 kWh of electricity.

Recommendations for saving thermal energy:

Did you know that installing a heat reflective screen (or aluminum foil) on the wall behind the heating radiator allows you to increase the temperature in the room by
1-2 degrees in winter.

It is better to replace cast iron radiators with aluminum radiators, the thermal conductivity of these radiators is 40-50% higher. If radiators are installed so that they can be easily removed, they should be washed regularly, which will also help increase the heat output.

Glazing a balcony or loggia is equivalent to installing additional windows. This creates a thermal buffer that is 10 degrees higher than the temperature outside in the fall and winter.

The residual heat after the iron is turned off is enough to iron small clothes.
