The head of Uzbekistan noted that today's state visit by the President of Turkmenistan is designed to become an important milestone in the history of centuries-old brotherhood of our peoples, based on strong ties of friendship, good-neighborliness, trust and mutual support.

- Today we have held meaningful, open and detailed talks with Serdar Gurbangulyevich, which will undoubtedly bring our cooperation to a new, higher level," the leader of Uzbekistan said. - We have discussed in detail all the urgent issues of bilateral agenda. We have exchanged assessments on the current condition of cooperation and noted the great progress. We have identified priorities of further joint work in political, trade and economic, transport, water and energy and humanitarian spheres.

The head of our state stressed that further strengthening of comprehensive cooperation with Turkmenistan is an unconditional priority of Uzbekistan's foreign policy.

The invaluable contribution of Turkmenistan's Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov to the strengthening of multifaceted Uzbek-Turkmen relations was especially noted.

- In Uzbekistan, we are sincerely glad that today President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov continues this wise policy," our leader said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also stated that during the talks the parties discussed in detail all issues in key areas of cooperation between the two countries.

An important outcome was the adoption of decisions on a number of promising areas, the implementation of industrial cooperation projects, an increase in mutual trade turnover, the creation of a cross-border trade zone, the opening of a joint project office.

Agreements have been reached to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the automotive, chemical, electrical, textile, food and agricultural industries.

To this end, a medium-term program of trade and economic cooperation and the development of industrial cooperation was adopted.

The development of a systemic inter-regional dialogue is expected to give a new impetus to the Uzbek-Turkmen partnership. The successful first Forum of Regions held the day before in Bukhara has clearly demonstrated its great untapped potential. A solid package of firm contracts and agreements worth more than 450 million dollars has been signed on its results.

The effective cooperation between the parliaments - the Oliy Majlis and Milliy Kengash - was noted with satisfaction.

The negotiations traditionally focused on the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation. An agreement was reached to actively develop scientific and academic exchanges and support programs in the field of innovation.

It was decided to continue to hold Days of Culture and Cinema of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan on a mutual basis, to promote joint projects in the field of tourism.

During the talks, issues of strengthening security and stability in our region were discussed. The importance of the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of States of Central Asia was noted.

- I am convinced that the deepening of regional processes and multilateral cooperation in Central Asia will contribute to progress and prosperity of all countries in the region," said the President of Uzbekistan.

An exchange of views on the situation in Afghanistan took place. Heads of state confirmed readiness to continue to work together for socio-economic reconstruction of this country.

The importance of continuing active contacts and mutual support within the UN, CIS, OIC, Organization of Turkic States and other institutions was emphasized.

The president of Uzbekistan thanked the Turkmen side for its active support in drafting and adopting a special UN General Assembly resolution on strengthening the interconnectedness of Central and South Asia.

The head of our state invited his Turkmen counterpart to attend the upcoming SCO summit in Samarkand as a guest of honor.

- Multifaceted Turkmen-Uzbek relations are developing dynamically today. Uzbekistan is our important political partner. Today we have discussed in detail the issues of trade and economic cooperation, confirmed the mutual readiness to expand and diversify it," said Serdar Berdymukhamedov.

In conclusion, the heads of state confirmed that they are determined to develop and expand a full-scale strategic partnership, to fill it with qualitatively new content, to achieve concrete and breakthrough results for the progress and prosperity of our fraternal countries and peoples.
