National Library of Uzbekistan Signs Memorandum with Russia's Leading Libraries.

During the Forum, Memorandums of Cooperation were signed between the Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan, the Saltykov-Shchedrin National Library of Russia, the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library and the Mayakovsky Central City Public Library of St. Petersburg.

Memorandums provide for the exchange of experience and scientific achievements in the areas: The Center for Reading, which carries out research, methodological, informational and educational activities in the field of books and reading:

  • Effective performance of information-methodological and coordination functions of the centralized network of public libraries and the organization of the monitoring system of public libraries;

●forming a methodology for creating and maintaining electronic catalogs, digitizing and storing electronic resources of large arrays, which can be used as a reference model for the development of information and library networks;

● organization of the St. Petersburg Citizen's Single Card project, which provides access to state, social, and commercial digital services of the city, including the city's public libraries. The exchange of practical experience in this area will optimize the possibility of creating a unified (corporate) system of information and library services for readers of the republic;

● conducting joint research in the field of library science, book science, restoration and conservation of library collections.

Agreements have been reached with each library to develop a roadmap for specific areas of interaction, with a definition of goals, implementation mechanism, and timelines for the assigned tasks.
